the Jackalope

By Kimberli Bindschatel

screen-shot-2016-09-14-at-11-09-20-amSo, being the curious person I am, I had to look up the origin of the so-called mythological jackalope, the fearsome rabbit with antlers with a fondness for whiskey. Turns out, it was a hoax perpetrated during the early 1800s. Who knew?

Apparently you can purchase your very own mounted jacklope trophy from Cabela’s (http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-Mounted-Jackalope-Buck/748133.uts)  But then you wouldn’t have the trill of hunting one yourself, which I highly recommend. The excitement is comparable to that of a snipe hunt I went on once as a girl scout. If you’ve never done it, add it to your bucket list right now.

Happy hunting!

(Yes, there is a jackalope cameo in Operation Grizzly Camp, just for fun.)
