Here are 5 American sex norms Europeans think are crazy
Today I’m pondering sex in our culture. Why? Two experiences collided. The first, recent comments from readers and friends regarding Poppy’s sexuality. The second, an article I read about how Europeans think American views on sex are batshit crazy. (Yep, that’s a quote from the article.) You can read it here.
The article discusses issues that I’ve pondered such as the casual prevalence of violence in this country vs. the outright denouncement of anything sex-related, how slut-shaming is commonplace, how we fear any human physical contact might be misconstrued as sexual (no hugs for you!). It really is messed up, if you ask me. The legacy of a puritan heritage is perpetuating a lot of pent up anger.
So, I have to ask: what is so wrong about sex? The hormones released during sex alone could make the world a better place. Sex, love and peace on Earth, my friends.
What do you think?

Someone asked recently, what would you like on your tombstone? In other words, what is your legacy? I immediately answered: She helped the animals of this world. Since I was a young child, I’ve loved all critters. My eyes would light with delight whenever we saw wildlife. My mom even describes my life in terms of animal phases. My bedroom was redecorated many times. I’ll never forget the giant frog she sewed to my bedspread. Then there was the giraffe stage. Dolphins and bears still remain at the top of the list for me. There is something so special about them.
